California State Fair

The California State Fair was going on for the last couple weeks. Farm Club  and others helped Robin set up her Meridian Jacobs exhibit. Robin put a lot of thought and work into her improved version and it really showed.

Having her Jacob Sheep there was a big attraction for her booth – everyone was really interested in those big-horned rams!

I managed to find a little time to spin – and discovered that the baling twine mat I made (see last post) makes a very nice spinning wheel rug!

Even though the Jacobs are my favorites, we did visit some other sheep. These are wearing coats and hoods to protect their fleeces.

"Yes, we are a little embarrassed but we do have clean fleeces!"

There was a livestock nursery there where some breeders (including Robin) have scheduled breeding their animals so they will lamb (or whatever) during fair. These little Boer Goat kids were pretty cute…

…but Robin’s ewe Mary and one of her triplets had to be my favorite. What a relaxed picture!

Next year, I plan on going on all the sheep days and will definitely visit more exhibits!
