Breakfast

On a recent Sunday, my husband and I went to visit our flock. Usually I am there later in the day so it was nice to get there early and feed them their breakfast. It was fun to see their anticipation and their thorough enjoyment of their alfalfa. Right now, they are all eating out of the same feeder (this may change later when we have a larger shelter – right now the feeder is outside and accessible to all).

They all fit at the feeder as Paridot eats high and the rest eat low. This does result in some alfalfa in the sheep’s wool so I may change feeding routine at some time in the future. Or, I may consider coats for the sheep. More on this later.

Marley remains the most enthusiastic eater of the flock, although Paridot may be a close second. We have taken to calling Marley our “California Green Sheep”!

We also got in a little more halter time with Paridot. He’s doing really well. I’m going to start grooming him soon.
